By far, the best part of my job is that publishers send me books. We only feature a handful in the magazine each month, but I still "have" to read more than that to choose the best. Oh, shoot...
The downside is that I love far more than I'm able to share with readers in our pages. So, here are some of my favorite fall picks (in no particular order):
Stella Bain by Anita Shreve
The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert (It haunted me, infuriated and mystified, but I couldn't put it down.
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt (liking this is almost cliche — see: The Luminaries — but it still deserves a mention)
The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton
The Circle by Dave Eggers
The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer (yes, I'm late to the party)
The Valley of Amazement by Amy Tan
