I confess I fell for the town during a recent visit and have added it to our "Someday, Maybe" file of places to live. It's got music, writing, an active lifestyle, all the culture of Nashville with the natural beauty of the country—plus a healthy dose of Southern attitudes. Historic Downtown Franklin is home to many boutiques, especially along Main Street. Some of my favorites we stopped in were Haven (a great, hip clothing shop) and Philanthropy (which gives 10% of profits to charities like The Southern Sudan Project and Hands and Feet Project). I also loved Bathos, Lulu Franklin and William Powell Home and Garden—so many cute locally-owned places to explore! The surrounding area is also filled with charming historic bungalows and cottages. Please add "wraparound porch" to my Aqua House wish list.
